Accessibility
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. If you have any problems, please let us know by emailing cb@schwebs.co.uk
If you want to make the words on the page bigger, please click on “View” then “Text Size” at the very top of your screen and choose “Largest”. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 (IE6).
For IE7 click on “Page” then “Text Size” near the top right of your screen and choose “Largest”.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox press the “Ctrl” and “+” keys simultaneously. You can do this more than once to increase the size of text. Use the “Ctrl” and “-” keys simultaneously to make the text smaller again.
Our web site has been built in the spirit of the UK Disability Discrimination Act by following the W3C Accessibility Guidelines Priorities 1 and 2.
UK government policy is that local authority web sites should conform to the Priority 2 standards. As a designer of school web sites we have complied with this.
However, the web site is always changing and it is not possible to guarantee 100% compliance, although that is our aim. If you have any problems with any of our pages, please let us know.
My web, my way
This site, from the BBC and AbilityNet, explains the many ways you can change your browser, computer, keyboard and mouse settings to make the web more accessible for you: http://www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility/
Creating an accessible web site
For those with visual disabilities, we:
- ensure that text on the web page can be made larger;
- provide screen reader compatibility;
- label images, photographs and graphics; and
- mark up tables.
For those with hearing disabilities, we:
- provide captioning for audio information.
For those with cognitive or neurological disabilities, we:
- use plain English;
- provide a consistent navigation structure;
- illustrate many text pages; and
- do not use flickering or strobing designs on pages.
The links on the left will take you to the other pages in our site.
